Celebrating a Century of African American Achievement


Diversity has always been one of the core values of McGraw-Hill Education. Our global workforce represents thousands of cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs systems all working together to improve outcomes for the world’s learners.

February is Black History Month in the United States, and this year’s theme is “A Century of Black Life, History, and Culture” — focusing on the achievements of African Americans from 1915 through 2015. Below is a timeline of some of the great African American achievers and history-making moments from the last 100 years.
